My heart goes out to everyone affected by the coronavirus (COVID–19) pandemic. During this time, I am committed to doing everything I can to ensure the safety of my clients and the community. Today, I am writing to share some steps that I'm taking to provide you with the knowledge and support that you need during these unusual times.
First, the Home Buyer Education Seminar planned for March 21st has been postponed. Due to the nature of the pandemic, we're uncertain when we'll be able to host the event. I will notify you as soon as it is safe for us to reschedule and bring everyone together.
Second, I recommend taking extra precautions if you do want to continue and take advantage of below-average interest rates. I have outlined some tips and strategies to help us all stay safe during your home search.
Home Buying Tips During a Pandemic:
Take a virtual tour first. Instead of driving all over town to find your home, go online and take a virtual tour. I am also prepared to do a live video call or recorded walkthrough of the home with you (by appointment only).
Look, but don't touch. If sellers are willing to let you into their homes, resist the natural urge to touch that countertop or open a closed door. The virus can live on surfaces for days so this will prevent spreading it through contact.
Be prepared to schedule an appointment. Many new home builders are requiring viewing appointments in order to prevent large crowd gatherings. Call me so I can set up an appointment before you hop in the car for a pop-in visit.
Practice good hygiene and bring sanitizers. The CDC recommends washing hands with soap and water whenever possible because handwashing reduces the amounts of all types of germs and chemicals on hands. But if soap and water are not available, using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol can help you avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. I will be armed with antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer for protection should you decide to do an in-person walkthrough.
Stay home. If you are sick or are displaying any symptoms of the flu or the virus, stay home and avoid contact with people especially the elderly and those in poor health.
Each of us has an important role to play in defeating this virus and reducing it's spread. If you decide to move forward with the sale and/or purchase of a home, I am here to help you do it as quickly and safely as possible.
I wish you the best during these trying times and am here to answer any questions you have.
